Winter Glow Retreats

Three One-Day Online Retreats to Keep You Warm This Winter

Learn to thrive, and not just survive, through the coming winter months

Are You Already Feeling the Chill of the Approaching Winter?

Winter is coming. As the days grow shorter and winter approaches, many introverts find themselves feeling more withdrawn, overwhelmed, and exhausted. I do. Wading through knee-deep mud in the freezing cold and incessant rain to feed the horses for months on end does not make me glow. It makes me feel grounded (as in wellies-stuck-in-the-mud) but it does not make me glow.

Winter is not my favourite season.

I get through winter by being kind. To myself. With single-minded determination.

I have a unique winter self-compassion toolbox that I bring down from my attic at autumn’s end.

My WSC-toolbox contains several specific tools that I need to thrive, not just survive, during the challenging season ahead.

I don’t host my walking retreats here at my little farm in the southwest of France in the winter – walking the Camino de Santiago knee-deep in mud is NOT good for your health – so I created a series of three online retreats for the overburdened and overstretched introvert who also struggles to remain energetic and enthusiastic during the winter months. Since I started curating and using this toolbox, I now welcome winter as an essential season in my retreat-hosting year.

It’s still not my favourite season, but it is now my season of greatest personal growth.

Invest in yourself this winter and join me for 1 or all 3 of the Winter Glow Retreats as I unpack my toolbox and show you how to feel more in control, confident, supported, resilient and ready, this year, to thrive during an often isolating, seemingly endless and stagnant season.

Interested in finding out how you too can feel grounded (not in mud!) and glow with inner strength during the winter months?

Introducing the “Winter Glow” Online Retreat

Three one-day, deeply restorative online retreats designed to help introverts prepare for winter by cultivating self-compassion, welcoming the quieter season ahead while recharging our batteries and compassionately caring for our inner selves.

“There is a privacy about winter which no other season gives you… In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other; only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself.” – Ruth Stout

Why Self-Compassion Matters Even More in Winter

Winter is a time of reflection and introspection, that can be challenging for introverts. The colder weather, longer nights, and social pressures and demands can leave us feeling depleted and isolated.

Self-compassion can be your greatest ally in winter. By nurturing your inner self, you can combat the winter blues and create a sense of comfort that shields you from the season’s emotional challenges. Self-compassion also helps ease self-criticism, allowing you to meet negative thoughts with kindness, especially as the days grow shorter and time indoors increases. As you conserve and replenish your energy, you’ll learn to honour your need for rest and reflection without guilt, embracing winter’s natural rhythm to slow down, recharge, and reconnect with yourself. Additionally, self-compassion creates a sense of contentment that not only strengthens your relationship with yourself but also enhances your ability to nurture meaningful connections with others, even (and especially) in the solitude of winter.

A Story of Transformation: Sarah’s Winter Renewal

Let me share the story of Sarah, a creative introvert who always struggled with the winter months. As the days grew shorter, she felt her energy drain, her creativity fade, and her mood darken. She dreaded the season, knowing that she’d spend most of it feeling isolated and uninspired.

One year, feeling particularly overwhelmed, Sarah discovered the “Winter Glow” online retreat. She was sceptical—could one day really make a difference? But she was desperate to find a new way to face the winter, so she signed up.

The retreat guided Sarah through gentle self-compassion exercises, mindfulness practices, and moments of quiet reflection, all designed to help her prepare for the winter season. For the first time, Sarah allowed herself to truly slow down, to honour her need for rest, and to treat herself with the kindness she had always extended to others.

By the end of the day, Sarah felt a profound shift. She no longer saw winter as a season to endure but as a time for deep self-care and introspection. That winter, instead of battling against the cold and darkness, Sarah embraced it. She rested, she reflected, and she nurtured her creativity in new ways. The self-compassion she cultivated during the retreat carried her through the season with grace and ease.
