Divorce Retreat FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Everything You Need to Know About the Camino de Santiago Women’s Divorce Retreats

Welcome to the FAQ page for my Camino de Santiago Women’s Divorce Retreats, where you’ll find answers to common questions about what to expect during this unique experience. If you’re contemplating a divorce, in the middle of one or in the aftermath of a divorce and seeking clarity on your next chapter, these retreats offer a blend of mindfulness, walking a section of the Camino de Santiago, and connection with nature. Here, I answer all the burning questions you didn’t even know you had. This page is your go-to guide for all things retreat-related—from the serious (yes, you definitely need travel insurance) to smart (no, you don’t have to get up at sunrise unless you really want to). Let’s clear things up so you can focus on what really matters: thriving during this major life transition and getting your life back on track.

Where is the retreat venue?

The retreat is hosted near Nogaro (see the red heart below), in Occitanie, in the southwest of France, 2 hours southeast of Bordeaux and 2 hours southwest of Toulouse, along a peaceful section of the Camino de Santiago.

When can I come on a retreat?

I run the divorce retreats year-round. Please email me at MargarethaMontagu@gmail.com to check availability.

Is airfare included in the retreat package?

No, airfare is not included in the retreat price. Travel to the retreat venue is self-organised.

Who are these retreats for?

My retreats are perfect for women navigating relationship difficulties, separation or divorce.

Do I need to pay the full price when I reserve my spot?

No, initially only a 450 euros deposit for this retreat is required upon registration. The remaining amount is collected 30 days prior to the retreat start date.

How can I secure my booking for the retreat?

Your spot is secure ONLY when you’ve paid the deposit. Early booking is recommended as availability is limited.

Do you have payment plans?

Yes, please e-mail me at MargarethaMontagu@gmail.com for details.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, travel insurance is mandatory in case of unexpected cancellations (either by you or by me) and any other incidents that can happen when travelling.

Do I have to do everything listed on the agenda?

No, you can tailor the experience to your needs. All activities are optional. Only participate in the activities that suit you.

I don’t speak any French…?

No problem, the retreat is hosted in English as most guests have this language in common. Many of the younger people in the region now also speak good English.

What is your Vaping/Smoking Policy?

Only allowed on the terrace outside the kitchen or on your private patio.

Is your retreat appropriate for those with mobility issues?

You will be staying in a building built hundreds of years before accessibility was a consideration, so unfortunately, the retreats I currently offer are not handicapped accessible (but I’m working on it!)

I have specialised dietary requirements. Can you accommodate my needs?

At the time of registration, please let me know if you have any allergies, preferences or intolerances. At the very least, I need to know two weeks before the retreat starts if you are vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc. I regretfully do not yet cater for vegans – but let’s talk about it if that is your preference. Customised dietary requirements may be subject to an additional fee.

What should I bring?

You’ll need comfortable walking shoes, lightweight clothing suitable for walking, a small backpack, a water bottle, sun protection, and layers for variable weather, etc. A full packing list will be provided once the final payment has been made.

Is there WiFi and cell service?

Yes, wifi is available in the common areas and in your room.

How fit do I need to be?

A moderate level of fitness is recommended. You’ll walk at a gentle, mindful pace, focusing on the journey, not the destination. The Camino walk is 10-11 kilometres on relatively flat terrain. If you have health concerns, please contact me in advance.

Can I attend multiple retreats?

Yes, many of my guests return for additional retreats, sometimes year after year. Each retreat is unique, so you are welcome to attend more than once. You can also combine this retreat with a 5-day reading retreat, if you want a longer stay.

I’m camera-shy, do I have to be photographed?

No, you certainly do not have to be photographed. Just let me know and remind me on arrival. I can never remember to do it anyway.

Is this a religious pilgrimage?

While you’ll walk the Camino de Santiago, a world-famous pilgrimage, my retreats are not religion-focused. They are open to people of all beliefs and focus on personal growth, resilience, mindfulness, and connection with nature.

Can I drink alcohol?

I do not have an alcohol licence, so I cannot serve alcohol, but you are welcome to bring your own.

What is the minimum age to participate?

You must be at least 21 years of age.

What do I do if I arrive early or want to stay on after the retreat?

It is possible in the immediate vicinity, there are some gorgeous B&Bs close by, but only in exceptional circumstances could I provide lodging, meals or transportation before or after these retreats.

How many guests can you have on the retreat?

The divorce retreats are strictly solo retreats to ensure you get the attention and support you need.

I hope these Divorce Retreat FAQ and answers have given you a clearer idea of what to expect from my divorce retreats and how they can support you during this pivotal time. My goal is to provide a nurturing and empowering environment where you can gain the tools needed to move forward with confidence.
